In honor of Veteran’s Day, a Seneca Lake winery donates to a local cause supporting veterans and animals.

For the month of November, Miles Wine Cellars of Himrod, NY will raise awareness and funds for Pawsitive For Heroes, a program that pays for service dog training for veterans.

“We appreciate those who served in the military,” Suzy Hayes from Miles Wine Cellars says. “And we love animals, so this is a perfect way to show our gratitude.”

As part of their Year of Giving campaign, Miles Wine Cellars will be donating a portion of their sales to Pawsitive for Heroes, a program from WNY Heroes Inc, an organization supporting Western New York Veterans. In addition, Miles Wine Cellars hopes to raise awareness to the cause and for those who served. Wine goers can visit the Finger Lakes winery and help raise funds and learn more about the cause.

At Pawsitive for Heroes, the dogs and their owners go through courses together to help those who served. A service dog is meant for a single individual need or purpose. “There’s a huge difference between a therapy dog and a service dog,” Chris Kreiger, president of WNYHeroes, Inc. says. “When they (service dog) put their vests on, they’re working.”
