Harvest Begins on Sunday

We are so excited to announce that after much anticipation our harvest begins on Sunday. Doug Miles anticipates that harvest of our Cayuga white grapes will occur this Sunday.  Next to follow sometime between Wednesday and Friday of the following week will be our Pinot Noir.  It is the most wonderful time of year for us at Miles Wine Cellars. We hope that if you stop by either the tasting room, Stay at the Inn or join us at the café you have an opportunity to see the harvesting taking place. This is a unique operation that only occurs once a year. We can anticipate that over the next month Doug and many of the family members will not get much sleep, as when the crop is ready it is time to harvest. Call Me a Cab Chili

Call Me a Cab Chili 2 Tbsp Olive Oil 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced 1 Cup Onion, chopped 2 1/2 lbs Beef, ground 4 14oz Cans of Diced Tomatoes 1 Cup “Call Me A Cab” Wine 3 Tbsp Chili Powder 3 Tbsp Cumin, ground 3 Tbsp Cocoa 2 tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes 2 Tbsp Honey 2 15oz Cans Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed 1 15oz Can Black Beans, drained and rinsed Sauté garlic and onion in olive oil. Add beef and cook until no longer pink. Drain off fat. Add tomatoes, wine, spices and honey. Bring up to boil, then turn heat down and allow simmering for about 10 minutes. Add beans and continue to simmer for about 20 minutes. The longer it simmers the richer the flavor. Serve with shredded sharp cheddar cheese, a glass of chilled Call Me A Cab wine and several good friends....

Call Me a Cab You Scurvy Dog 1 lb sliced smoked sausage 1 cup “Call Me a Cab” Red Wine 1 cup Ketchup 1 cup Grape Jelly 3 Tbs “Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce” 4 tsp Garlic Powder Slice sausage links and sauté in skillet until browned. Miles Curry and Riesling Chicken

Miles Curry and Riesling Chicken 2 tbsp. Sesame oil 1 c. onion, chopped 4 chicken breast, skinless and boneless 8 oz. of crushed pineapple, undrained 1/2 c. Miles Wine Cellars Riesling 1/2 tbsp. curry powder, according to taste 1/4 c. Tahini Sauté the onion in the oil. Add the chicken and cook for 20 min. In a small bowl mix the remaining ingredients and pour over chicken. Bring to simmer. Cover, turn to medium low and cook for 40 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
